Shirley Pei Lin Jiang is the best known face in the modeling profession in the People's Republic of China. After making her debut and winning second place in the 1999 Shanghai International Fashion Model Contest, she was garnered the top honor of the Chinese Fashion and Culture Awards Most Distinguished Model in 2000 and again in 2001. It is not only her stunning features but also her quick wits and elegance that make her the most sought-after personality in the fashion and entertainment fields.
Shirley Jiang has always been an achiever. A graduate of Sports Psychology from Harbin Sports Institute in the northeastern part of China, she was poised to become a professional volleyball player if not for a persistent injury. She traveled to Shanghai to start a new career in modeling in 1999 and before long she was the mainstay of many major domestic and international fashion events held in the country. Her brilliance shone through when she modeled and co-hosted in the fashion exhibition event held in New York City as one of the activities of the Chinese Cultural Tour in America 2000.
At the pinnacle of her modeling career, Shirley is also pursuing excellence in the academic field. She is currently a under graduate of Fundamental Psychology in Beijing Normal University. Held in high regards by the tertiary institutes in relations to her professional career, Shirley is Visiting Lecturer to the Textile and Fashion Department of Tianjin Institute of Industries. She holds the same Visiting Lecturer title to Xinjiang Institute of Fine Arts.
In January 2002, Shirley published "Dancing on the Moon", a collection of short articles and photographs reflecting on her life and work. A second collection entitled "Crafting Beauty" is in progress for publication July 2002. The summer of 2002 will find Shirley in Sapporo of northern Japan on location shooting for a photo album to be published by a Japanese publishing house at the end of the year.
