Shape

Moissanite gemstones are available in all of the classic shapes you know and love, and a variety of fancy shapes and sizes.

Using computer modeling, Charles & Colvard created proprietary designs to display the maximum light refraction based on the optical properties (i.e. fire, brilliance and luster) of Moissanite jewels. A unique version of the round brilliant cut was the first shape developed applying these computer models. Recently Charles & Colvard designed new fancy shapes that eliminate dark areas commonly found in other gemstones with these fancy cuts. It is believed that these proprietary designs enhance moissanite's physical properties for the superior optical performance observed in faceted moissanite jewels.

Round Brilliant

The round brilliant cut diamond is by far the most popular and most Moissanite gemstone shape. For almost 100 years, diamond cutters have been using advanced theories of light behavior and precise mathematical calculations to optimize the fire and brilliance in a round diamond. Moreover, round brilliant Moissanite stones are cut to reflect the highest amount of light. The result is that round brilliant Moissanite gemstones have the highest level of fire and brilliance and have the whitest appearance.

Square Brilliant

This is our most popular non-round Moissanite gemstone. Its beautiful brilliance and unique cut makes it a favorite for engagement rings. Although Moissanite is available in both a Princess and Square Brilliant cut, we generally recommend the square brilliant as it is cut to reflect a higher amount of light, increasing the brilliance, fire, and whiteness of the stone.

Oval

An oval Moissanite has beautiful brilliance that's similar to the round brilliant. Oval Moissanite gemstones are also very popular as their length can accentuate long, slender fingers.

Marquise

An elongated shape with pointed ends inspired by the fetching smile of the Marquise de Pompadour and commissioned by the Sun King, France's Louis XIV, who wanted a diamond to match it. Because of its elongated shape, the marquise shape can give you a much larger-looking Moissanite gemstone.

Cusbian

This unique shape has been popular for more than a century. Cushion-cut Moissanite gemstones (also known as "pillow-cut" or "antique cut") have rounded corners and larger facets to increase their brilliance. These larger facets highlight the Moissanite's clarity.

Radiant

This rectangular cut combines the elegance of the emerald shape diamond with the brilliance of the round, with its many facets maximizing the effect of its color refraction.

Pear

A hybrid cut, combining the best of the oval and the marquise, it is shaped most like a sparkling teardrop. The pear cut diamond is particularly beautiful for pendants or earrings.

Heart

The heart is the ultimate symbol of love. The unique look of the heart-shaped Moissanite gemstone helps make it a distinctive choice for a variety of Moissanite jewelry.

Triangle

The triangle diamond, first designed in Amsterdam, is cut into the shape of a wedge.
