Carat

Carat is the traditional measuring unit of a diamond's weight (1 carat = 200 milligrams). A carat is divided into 100 "points," so the same diamond can be represented as weighing a carat and a half, 150 points or 1.50 carats. Moissanite stones are slightly lighter (less heavy) than diamonds. Therefore, a 6.5mm round diamond would weigh 1.0 ct while a 6.5mm moissanite would weigh 0.88 ct. However, the two stones would be the same size, 6.5mm in diameter.

In order to minimize the confusion this can create, all stones are listed on Moissanite Co. with their actual size in mm and/or the diamond equivalent in carats. See below for a full mm to carat conversion chart.

This chart illustrates how diamonds of different carat weights look when set in a ring. Note that a 2-carat diamond does not appear to be twice the size of a 1-carat diamond when viewed from the top.

Using the stone size "previewer" below, browse the various Moissanite shapes available on MoissaniteCo.com and their relative sizes. (Please note that the sizes are fairly accurate but may not be 100% correct. This is provided for illustration purposes only.)
